ITSFibre provided Ultra Fast Fibre Broadband to the first tenant, Condimentum Ltd, based at the New Food Enterprise Park in Norwich.
Condimentum Ltd recently moved to new premises, now operating from a purpose built facility in the Norwich Food Enterprise Park near the A47 west of the city, the only one of its kind in Europe – becoming the first major tenant in this brand new commercial area.
ITSFibre provided all new ultrafast fibre broadband infrastructure and IT services migration to Condimentum not once but twice, all under one roof, so the customer had the benefit of just dealing with one IT company, they didn’t have to try to liaise with a number of providers, which often creates its own issues with responsibility and ownership.
The Challenge
After moving from the Carrow Road site where the famous Colman’s factory was sited, Condimentum relocated to a temporary site before moving to their new state of the premises on the Norwich Food Enterprise Park.
This meant that Condimentum had to move all their business services not just once but twice, within a short space of time.
All broadband services, telecoms and business IT systems, needed to be seamlessly transferred over, to avoid any business downtime. Often IT systems and services are interrelated, for instance the accounts services rely on live time connections to HMRC, the telecoms systems rely also on the broadband connection and the processing plant relies on access to live database systems. Any downtime, could potentially halt production and cause mayhem with a number of production and processing systems.
The Customer
Condimentum Ltd, The Food Enterprise Park, Church Lane, Easton.
Condimentum is a new company with an established legacy which processes mustard seed, mint and horseradish to provide a range of ingredients for the food industry. Condimentum was formed by the English Mustard Growers group and Norfolk Mint Growers group coming together to establish a processing facility for their crops.
Mustard was first processed by Jeremiah Colman at his mill at Stoke Holy Cross in 1814 and has been grown for Colman’s in Norfolk and the Fens ever since; some of our growers have been supplying Colman’s continuously for over 100 years.
Mint has been grown in Norfolk since first trials were looked at in 1965. The Norfolk soils and climate proved to be particularly well suited to growing mint and further trial crops were planted to establish the best variety of mint for producing the finest tasting mint sauce. Contracts were agreed with farmers and acreage quickly increased to supply 100% fresh mint to the Colman’s factory.
Today, new harvesting techniques mean that only the leaves are picked, leaving stems in the field. The mint fields are located close to the factory so the mint can be delivered quickly to be processed, just chopped up and mixed with vinegar, before any flavour is lost.
Condimentum was created through agreement with Colman’s to replace their outdated primary processing facilities in Norwich and forms part of their exit plan from the Norwich site, announced in January 2018.
Now operating from a purpose built facility in the Norwich Food Enterprise Park near the A47 west of the city, the only one of its kind in Europe – becoming the first major tenant in this brand new commercial area.
The Solution
For the first move from Carrow Road to the temporary location, InTouch Systems managed the migration of all business systems and broadband connections, successfully avoiding downtime by transferring outside of core operating hours. InTouch Systems provided all of the business IT services from broadband to hosted systems all under one roof in house, this ensured business continuity as this avoided any issues pertaining to third party interventions and/or delays.
This well-rehearsed process was successfully repeated prior to the move to the new location at the brand new Norwich Food Enterprise Park. This location was so new, that it didn’t have any connectivity infrastructure in place to provide the company with the 21st century connectivity required to run a multi-million pound business.
A competitive process was conducted for the provision of Ultra-Fast Fibre to the entire Norwich Food Enterprise Park, the outcome of which was that Intouch Systems were appointed as the successful single supplier. This has enabled Intouch Systems to provision the necessary infrastructure to provide Ultra-Fast Fibre to all current and future tenants of the Norwich Food Enterprise Park.
